The synthesizer-soaked world of the band Onyon is characterized by hectic, jerky rhythms reminiscent of Kleenex/Liliput or Devo, sharp guitar sounds and minimalist compositions in the style of garage rock of the 60s. Sung in German and English, alone or in pairs, sometimes even switching within the same song, reality and fiction merge. The songs of Onyon convey ease and light-heartedness, but are still noticeably driven by frustration about outdated world views and consumerism, bringing to mind an England of the late 70s: wave, post-punk, rock — Onyon combine all these genres in their own way.
